WHAT WE DO
Evidenced-Based Education and Prevention Classes
Afterschool prevention classes are conducted for students ages 10-18. An evidenced-based curriculum is presented to the attendees. Discussed topics include substance abuse, self-esteem, underage drinking, peer pressure, and other behavioral health topics. Classes are held on Tuesdays. Incentives are given to the students for participating in the education program. Please contact us for more information.
Community Outreach for Underprivileged Families
Events and activites are conducted monthly to engage with underpriviledged families through community outreach and education. Our biggest event of the year is the annual Back To School Event. This event is conducted for youth in the community to receive backpacks, school supplies, incentives, food and information on tobacco, alcohol and other drugs. In addition, bikes, gift certificates and gift cards are given away tothe students in attendance. Please follow our social media pages to stay aware of monthly events.
Substance Abuse and HIV/AIDS Education
Presentations on behavioral health and substance abuse are conducted regularly when requested for youth and adults.
Youth-Leadership Mentoring & Tutoring
C.H.A.N.G.E. and YMOAM currently mentors 10 young men between the ages of 10-18. Through the program, the mentees receive tutoring, leadership and development skills, community service opportunities, scholarships, and college enrollment assistance. New mentees are enrolled into the program annually. Sessions are held once a month.
Tutoring classes are held on Mondays/Wednesdays. Students ages 10-18 can receive turoting in Math, Science, Language and Reading. Contact us for more information on enrolling students in the mentoring and tutoring programs.
Resource Referral
Many community members receive resource referrals for needed assistance and services that are not offered through this organization.
Holiday Giveaways for the Needy
An annual Turkey Drive is held in Novemeber. Turkeys and and canned goods are given to underpriviledged families.
“A Time To Give” Christmas Giveaway is hosted annually in December where 25 less fortunate boys and 25 less fortunate girls receives Christmas gifts for the holidays. Students are recommended by community members yearly.
Donations and Programs for the Unhoused
Donations are given regularly to the unhoused, shelters, and to the Salvation Army. Some of those donatins include socks, coats, and more.
The food pantry is open on the 1st/3rd Tuesdays of the month. The clothing closet is open on the 2nd/4th Tuesdays of the month. All clients must present proof of income and proper identification. Clothing and nonperishable food item donations are accepted at our office through appointments only. Call to schedule an appointment to drop-off donations.
Barbershop 55 is available for unhoused senior citizens over the age of 55. Community members are able to receive free haricuts. Contact us to learn more about this program.
Care Package Assistance For Single Mothers In Need
Care packages are given to single mothers in need. Items donated to the mothers are toiletries and hair care products. Care package donations are ongoing.
